For your Information

CHANGE OF BANK HOLIDAY 2020

Circular Issued: 18thJune 2019

Change of the Bank Holiday from 4thMay 2020 to 8thMay 2020 to commemorate VE Day.

As has been advertised in the press, the government department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) have advised on 7thJune 2019 of a change to the Early May Bank Holiday 2020. The Bank holiday will move from 4thMay 2020to Friday 8thMay 2020to coincide with the 75thVE Day Celebrations.

For every publisher of diaries and calendars in the country this change will affect the following dated products:

· 2019 18-month diaries and calendars running from Jan 2019 to June 2020

· 2019/2020 Academic diaries and calendars which run from August 2019 to July 2020 - Both products have been on sale long before the change was announced.

  • 2020 Diaries and Calendars running from Jan 2020 to Dec 2020
  • Products which, for most publishers, have already been printed with a proportion already delivered to customers.

Legally, Tallon customers and Tallon are covered by the inclusion of a clause within every dated item Tallon sell which states:

Although the publisher has taken every measure to ensure all data is correct, they cannot accept responsibility for any errors herein. Some bank and public holidays are subject to confirmation and can change without prior notice. For further information, please visit the following websites: www.gov.uk(England, Wales, NI);www.gov.scot(Scotland); www.citizensinformation.ie(Republic of Ireland).

Please check for this disclaimer clause in every publication you buy from any publisher to cover yourself should the need occur.

We have contacted the government department BEIS to lobby for VE Day to be an additional Bank Holiday on 8thMay 2020 instead of replacing the 4thMay 2020 Bank Holiday. Adding a bank holiday would be our preferred option.

However, as it stands, we must make provision for the accessibility of information advising of the change of Bank Holiday from 4thMay 2020 to 8thMay 2020 for our customers and your customers.

IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER COPIES OF THE POINT OF SALE NOTIFICATION, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE A4, A5 AND A6 VERSIONS HERE.

Please note that this change of bank holiday does not apply to Eire. They are maintaining 4thMay 2020 bank holiday with no provision as yet for VE Day celebrations.

Kind regards
